Liljeholmens Stearinfabrik and ASP-HOLMBLAD launch new plastic-free tealight packaging – reducing plastic use by seven tonnes per year
Liljeholmens Stearinfabrik and ASP-HOLMBLAD, both part of the Liljeholmens Group, have launched their classic tealights in FSC-certified paper packaging – completely free from plastic. This change reduces the group’s annual plastic use by seven tonnes. That amount of plastic corresponds to the climate impact of a bus travelling around the world 25 times.
– This is an important step in our long-term sustainability work. Tealights are among our most appreciated products, and from now on they come in packaging that is not only plastic-free and stylish enough to leave on display – but also better for the climate. We’ve invested in the future, both by developing new packaging and by adapting our production, says Anna Morau, Marketing Director at Liljeholmens Group.
Today, 75% of Liljeholmens Stearinfabrik’s consumer packaging is plastic-free, and the aim is to reach 100% by 2027.
The new tealight paper packs are not only plastic-free – they are also FSC-certified, resealable, and available in 50-, 75-, and 100-pack formats. The contents remain the same: tealights made from 100% stearin with a burn time of 5.5 hours.
Liljeholmens’ sustainability work goes beyond packaging – it is integrated into the entire business. Today, 95% of the energy used in production is fossil-free, and all electricity comes from renewable wind power. This means that the new plastic-free tealight packs not only reduce plastic consumption, but are also produced with minimal climate impact.
The new paper packaging is now available in selected stores and at www.liljeholmens.se and www.asp-holmblad.dk. The design differs from the previous plastic version, so keep an eye out next time you're shopping!
